Week of 9/22/14

This week students will: 

Math: 
-Generate a number that is greater than or less that a given whole number (numbers up to 1,200).

- Use place value to determine the number that is 10 or 100  more than a given number (up to 1,200).





Reading: 
-Use vocabulary strategies to understand new words when reading and writing.
- Daily 5



Writing: 
-Use elements of the writing process (Last week we worked on pre-writing). 
-Continue Handwriting without Tears
- Continue to practice using the following types of punctuation: 
Periods, Exclamation Marks, and Question Marks

Home Extension: Discussion Questions
When do writers use periods, question marks, and exclamation marks?


Social Studies:
-Use and understand timelines

Science:
-Matter (Solids, Liquids, Gas)




Social Emotional Learning: 
-Review the following: 
Self-Talk
Attentive Listening
Respectful Learning
Assertiveness

Self-Talk: means talking to yourself in a quiet voice to help you stay on task and focused. 


Homework: 
-Spelling: Spelling List: sent out via email.
