Week of September 2nd-5th

This week students will: 

Math: 
-Use number lines to identify where numbers belong. 
-Explore three digit numbers-standard, word, and expanded form.

Reading: 
-Describe similarities and differences in plots and setting of different stories. 
-Learn routines of Daily 5.

Writing: 
-Use elements of the writing process.

Home Extension: Talk with your child about the following questions:
Why do people write?
When do people write?
Share with your child your daily writing tasks: to do lists, recipes, emails, msgs. to friends,....ect. 

Social Studies:
-Understand and be informed about the holiday, Labor Day.
 -Understand the difference between needs and wants.

Science:
-Discover people in Science.

Social Emotional Learning: 
-Identify example of focusing attention and listening skills.

Homework: 
-First spelling list/Math homework will be sent home on 9/5/14 for the week of 9/8-9/12.
-All About Me!  Due by 9/8

Library: Our first Library session will be this Thursday. Please have you child keep their books in their backpack.
