Week of September 8th-12th

This week students will: 

Math: 
-Use number lines to identify where numbers belong. 
- Continue to explore three digit numbers-standard, word, and expanded form. By the end of the week students will be expected to expand and write whole numbers up to 1,200.

Reading: 
-Describe similarities and differences in plots and setting of different stories. 
-Describe traits, motivations, and feelings of fictional characters.
-Learn routines of Daily 5.

Writing: 
-Use elements of the writing process (Last week we worked on pre-writing). Drafting
-Begin Handwriting without Tears

Home Extension: Discussion Questions
Where do people get their ideas for their writing? 
How does pre-writing help a writer?


Social Studies:
-How are people alike and different?
- Explore heritage and culture

Science:
-Make predictions based on observable patterns.
-Continue to explore different scientist.

Social Emotional Learning: 
-Discuss Self-Talk

Self-Talk: means talking to yourself in a quiet voice to help you stay on task and focused. 


Homework: 
-Spelling: Spelling List: sent out via email.
-Homework Contract: sent out via email.
